Day 19: Watch the stars come out

November 19th: Watch the stars come out.

I’m busy.  I’m a multi-tasker.  The list is never empty.  I am never bored.  There will always be more for me to do.  Which is why this item is still on my list.  There is a certain amount of give that has to happen in your life where you feel free enough to give up an evening to watch the stars come out.  From dusk to stars.

It’s something that I imagine would be delightful – I think of the feeling – just laying on a blanket, on a hill, the musky smell of dusk and dew hitting me as each star glimmers into space, saying “there, I see one” and then another and then another until the whole sky is full.  I’ll wonder what they are – just as the song dictates….but mostly I’ll just admire how they shine, how they glimmer even in the face of darkness.

There is no Tweeting when you’re watching stars come out, there isn’t an e-mail to send, a book to read, a dish to clean, laundry to fold, post to write, phone call to make, errand to run, DVR to set, list to make, shoot to schedule when it comes to watching stars.  For me, it would be like a meditation.  It would be calm, serene, quiet, giddy with excitement.  It would be sensual in a completely pure way.  It would be all anticipation, and lets face it some of the best parts of life come in the moments of anticipation.  It would be still.

So far I haven’t been clear enough to let this item happen.  But when I do – I’m sure it’s going to be incredible.

That's a beautiful idea. We used to watch the stars when we had bonfires at my cottage as a child. It was especially gorgeous over the lake when there was a full moon. So peaceful.

We have done alot of star watching this summer. It is delightful. Especially when you hear a child shouting "I see the first star" and then back and forth until there are so many you can't go any more. We'd love to have you join us!

I'm with ya. I think I may need a Xanax to quiet my brain but I'm with ya.
