November 14th: Go Camping

My definition of camping is a little….what’s the word….loose.  A cabin in a woods with a fireplace, running water and electricity would qualify as camping.  And I’m not so interested in going full out tents on dirt, no running water, no electricity camping – that’s a little….what’s the word….hellish.  Don’t get me wrong I can see how it would be appealing I just have a thing for beds and high thread count sheets and bathing.  But throw on a smokey scented quilt and I’ll sleep like a baby.

Remember that movie Beverly Hills Troop.  I loved that movie.  Those girls really knew how to camp.

OMG - I LOVE Troop Beverly Hills. Simply ADORE it. And since nobody else in their right mind even *likes* that movie, it's clear we are now fated to be friends.

I have the best place! Pat and I went there a few years ago, it is exactly what you described. It is in Tennessee and it is beautiful. One day we will go!

Love nature, love the outdoors, hiking, swimming, etc. Love showers and a toilet more. Let's rent a hi-end RV and go "camping" together!!

Ha Ha...i totally agrees!! But i actually do not see how "roughing it" camping can be appealing!! I am not so much drawn to high thread count, but I like to bathe and be clean...i think that is my biggest issue...oh and bugs!!!

You might think I am totally insane for this, but once as a camp counselor I slept ontop of a tarp in the middle of the woods right there on the dirt--and it continues to be the best damn sleep of my life. crazy right? ps. I had to nominate you for an Honest award! Do not feel as if you have to continue it, but your blog speaks to me in so many many ways.

I don't ind an occasional cabin or some other 'indoor' camping adventure. Unfortunately, that is not true camping in my book. Too many 'creature comforts' Properly prepare, a tent camping experience is the best way to go. A good start is at http://www.sightseeingreview.com/campingchecklist.php

Hi! Popped on over from Dawn's blog. hee. We have very different views of camping. My default is sleeping in tents, no running water (unless there's a nearby stream) and a fire. RV camping is seriously pushing it.
